Millet made Semiya – Recipe of the week

Millet Semiya is a quick breakfast that is made with foxtail millet and other basic ingredients that are available to create a delicious breakfast for your family. Ingredients

  • Foxtail Millet Vermicelli
  • Onion
  • Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds
  • Raw Peanuts
  • Curry leaves
  • Sambar Powder and Turmeric powder
  • Pink Salt
  • Cold pressed groundnut oil

Recipe :

  1. Place a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add oil, sprinkle mustard seeds, cumin seeds and allow it splutter for few seconds.
  3. Add curry leaves and allow it to crackle. Add peanuts and fry them until they turn light brown.
  4. Add sliced onions and saute until they turn translucent. Add sambar powder, salt and turmeric powder.
  5. You can add foxtail millet vermicelli and mix well. Add about 1 cup of water and keep it in low flame and cook till the water evaporates.
  6. Once all water is absorbed you can give it a stir and serve hot.
  7. Serve the Millet made Semiya along with coconut chutney and pair it with morning tea to enjoy your breakfast.
